About Mateo

Mateo Gonzalez constructs and designs impactful auditory experiences with a diverse and unique approach that applies to an equally wide range of uses. Both a sound designer and composer, his creative output values a holistic approach to media and a set of abilities to match. Being able to craft experiences from the subtle to the visceral, Mateo’s set of skills includes digital production as well as sound design using synthesis, sampling, live recording, sound manipulation, and mixing and mastering.

Beginning his higher education in game design, Mateo had a great admiration for the deeply entangled and multifaceted identity of game development and the many artistic professions that went into the creation of interactive digital media. Eventually, taking classes in sound design and synthesis, Mateo discovered that he could be a productive creative in the world of digital media without being another audio engineer while still being dedicated to his love of music, gaming, and film. Through the power of sound, he can directly impact an audience’s experience and construct an even more immersive media presentation.  Mateo is creating expressive music projects as well as various sound design reels for professional use.

Mateo is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in computer music from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he has studied under Dr. Ted Moore and Martin Schmidt. He received his associate's degree in Music Business and Performance Technology from Austin Community College with a focus on Digital Composition and has also studied computer simulation and gaming at the University of Tulsa.
